LAB | English Language Proficiency

FSTC Europe is an Aviation English Language Test Center approved by the Hellenic CAA, authorized to conduct examinations and grant English Language Proficiency Certificates up to Level 6.

Operational Level 4 of English Language Proficiency is required by the International Civil Aviation Organization for all civil pilots and Air Traffic Controllers.

  • Level 6 Expert is valid for life and does not require re-evaluation.
  • Level 5 Extended is valid for 6 years and requires re-evaluation after this period.
  • Level 4 Operational is valid for 3 years and requires re-evaluation after this period.

The test is designed to assess the language competence of Pilots (PPL and CPL) and Air Traffic Controllers in accordance with the ICAO Language Proficiency Rating Scale.

Six skills (Vocabulary, Structure, Pronunciation, Fluency, Comprehension, Interactions) are assessed on a scale from 1 to 6. Only speaking and listening skills are assessed, in a work-related context within the aeronautical environment.
The FSTC Europe Language Proficiency test is comprised of 3 parts, based on recorded prompts that simulate an authentic aviation environment. The duration is approximately 20-40 minutes.
Proficient Speakers are required to communicate effectively in voice-only and face-to-face situations, using appropriate communicative strategies and an accent which is intelligible to the aeronautical community.
Please contact us for a test sample to help you familiarize with our test or any other information you might need regarding the examination.
