ATR 42/72 - 500 Course Entry Requirements

 Valid CPL(A) or ATPL(A) issued by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)

ATR 42-72 / 500 Facts you should know 

  • The ATR 72-500 is a twin-engine turboprop short-haul regional airliner built by the French-Italian aircraft manufacturer ATR.
  • The 42-300 made it's maiden flight on August 16th 1984, and took to the skies at the end of 1985 with Air Littoral.
  • The 72-500 was announced in 1986, and made its maiden flight on 27 October 1988.
  • Passengers are boarded using the rear door (which is rare for a passenger plane) as the front door is used to load cargo. Finnair ordered their ATR 72-500 with a front passenger door so that they could use the jet bridges at Helsinki–Vantaa airport.
  • In September of 2010 ATR delivered a 72-500 to Brazil's TRIP Linhas Areas, making a total of 900 combined ATR deliveries to date.
